Academic Integrity

Academic Integrity. If you don't state where you get your information or plagiarize, you can get kicked out of school and may not be able to attend the school you cheated from. Plagiarism means unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work. Plagiarism is of great concern to high school and alot college students because it an easier way to get out of an assignment if you don't get caught. Plagiarism is sometimes and most of the time obvious because some teachers can spot it when they first see the paper because they are used to the students writing abilities.
If you need more information on plagiarism here are some interesting websites to look at: http://www.infoplease.com/spot/plagiarism.html,http://plagiarism.phys.virginia.edu/links.html. There are some websites that a teacher can go to search for a paper that may be plagiarized. In my opinion its not worth plagiarizing and losing your scholarship or getting kicked out of school.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan. I am going to Butler Community College mainly to play baseball, but since I am here I might a well graduate from Butler. I will probably get an associates degree because I will carry on a go to four year school after I graduate so I can get a better job and make more money. Right now at Butler I am undecided on my education because I am not sure what i want to do when i get older. Most likel, next semester I will try and take some buisness classes because I have heard from alot of people that you can do alot of stuff with a buisness degree. I am planning on trannsferring to another school after Butler maybe if i get the chance to play some more baseball, but if baseball doesnt work out I will still go some where else probably University of Central Oklahoma just because its closer to home. I am not really ready to move too far fro school unless I get a baseball scholorship. I will probably get a bachelors degree so I can get a good job and support my family when I have kids and stuff like that. I found some website that have a list of schools that offer good buisness programs. http://www.worldwidelearn.com/business-degree/business-degrees.htm, http://www.princetonreview.com/mba/.

Community Service

Homelessness. I have seen first hand and have helped homeless people. Its sad and upsetting that someone has to mengle around to find some kind of food to eat. I went on two mission trips that have delt with people that suffered from no food, no clothes or barely a place to sleep. Seeing homeless people is really tough it hurts to see people live like they are living out on the streets or not getting money. A lot of homeless people have psychological problems like schizophrenia or a diesease. When I saw these people first hand and tried to talk them it was tough to stay focused on what I was there to do, like help them and cook for them. We had a truck that was filled with toys, dishes, and appliances. When we would open the back of the truck to hand the people the items and stuff it was tough for them not to fight with each other. We would have to quit for a little while so they would all settle down. I guess, when you dont have anything and your wanting toys or something for your kids its tough to just act calm or polite. We had a lot of girls that were with us from my church and they would get so hurt from seeing the kids in old shirts and shorts, with no shoes or anything. They would have to go of and have some alone time to think about it all. We helped those people out alot and I am very glad I went on that mission trip because I learned so much from those people and mainly the kids. The expierence taught me not to be so greedy or materialistic because they werent at all they would be happy with a new shirt or even some socks.

Time Management

Time Management. Time Management is really hard if you are a full time student at Butler and you play a sport or some other extracurricular activity. Trying to manage class and missing school because of missing games. If you manage your time well you will be that much better at your studys. Going to class is tough when your trying to manage your time. I am doing pretty good managing my time, with practice and homework. Usually when I dont do my homework its because I am lazy not from time managing. Playing baseball and managing your time is not that hard right now because we arent in our season yet, but when spring time comes we will be gone sometimes for 5 days at a time. When that happens I hope to be a better student were I can do my homework on the bus or in the hotel that we would stay in. Managing your time is kind of easy when there is nothing to do but get on the computer or watch t.v.
